Day 4 | Waldorf Practical Arts Training

Welcome to Day 4 of Waldorf Practical Arts Training module 7, Thursday, June 26, 2025

Welcome to day four of the Waldorf practical art training. Last night I worked on my quilt. Since I wasn’t super pleased with the design that I chose, and it was somewhat crooked as once you are a little bit uneven with one row everything else starts to grow in discrepancy. It’s like being off by one degree at the beginning of a walk and ending up in a completely wrong location by the end of your journey. I took home some pieces of fabric to work on a second quilt. I wanted to do dark rainbow colors on one side and light rainbow colors on the other side. For a log cabin quilt, half of it is dark and half of it is light to represent the light from outside and the day and the shadows inside and the night. Also on day four I woke up with a pretty bad migraine. I decided to join online rather than in person for the first session. While listening to the lecture, I modified my woodworking design. I flipped my wood over to start on a geometric design. It’s seven division of a circle and it’s one of my favorite designs. By the time the morning lecture was complete finished, I felt well enough to join everyone in person. I got there right around the end of the hard craft session. I decided to work through lunch and continued carving out my design. The following lunch we worked on our log cabin quilt. I was able to complete the backside of my quilt. Now it’s ready to fill!

These intensive trainings run three times a year: February, April and June. You may join anytime. There are a total of 9 modules (3 year program) with each module including a soft and hard craft.

Participants may also join online but I recommend in person if possible! The energy of working together and being inspired by other students and the feeling of community is unmatched.

Learn more by checking the Waldorf Practical Arts Training. If learning more about the hard and soft crafts taught in a Waldorf school, this program may be right for you!
