Come Clean, Shop and Refresh the Kitchen with Me | Vlog | Sunday, May 18, 2025

It’s Sunday, and it’s time to refresh the pantry, clean out the refrigerator & freezer, and do the weekly shopping for our family at five. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks doing a deep clean of the pantry and the kitchen. I’m going cabinet by cabinet and drawer by drawer to give everything a good clean out and a refresh. Every once in a while, I need to do a reorganizing of our spaces. This helps keep the functionality of our kitchen working smoothly. I use this time to sort through our kitchen items, get rid of things that are broken or no longer being used, and purchased the things that we need.

One new item that I’m excited to use is my pizza peel and cutter. We’ve been making pizza more often these days and I bought a couple of tools that will make the process easier.

Today, I did the majority of our grocery shopping for the week. I also picked up orders from local shops for home essentials. I did minimal meal prep for the week. But the big task was cleaning out the refrigerator and the freezer and one last shelf in our pantry.

While I saved most of the compost from my friend, I did keep the sprouted potatoes and planted them in the backyard. 

We usually compost with our city these days, but a friend is looking to grow some grubs for chickens so I kept my kitchen scraps and some organic organic waste so she could use it for her non-conventional and conventional composting.

Dropping off my compost at my friends house was not an errand, it was an afternoon tea party, and Mulberry harvest! This was the first time I ate fresh mulberries off the tree and they were so delicious. She’s grafted three Mulberry varieties on one tree and two Mulberry varieties on another tree and we enjoyed an afternoon of eating mulberries, browsing her garden and having fresh tea under her rose bush arch.
